Getting things done
I thought I’d start blogging a bit about getting my graduation plans in order, and job searching. Once the site is up and running, and I write all the copy for each of my posts, the site will be complete. Today was pretty interesting. I designed my graduation announcement and got my portrait taken by a great photographer named Laura Walsh. (http://laulouwat.blogspot.com) The announcement was pretty simple, but I tried hard to give it it’s own flavor, so its different from a traditional graduation announcement. Dimensions were set at 81/2 inches tall, with a 4 inch width. Single panel with a photo insert.
Once I collect the addresses of those who will be receiving the invite, I have this awful assignment behind me.
Even though Laura took these, i feel that the way she photographs is special and I admire her talent.
Here is a file of my announcement I put together. I felt that it was mission something for about 2 hours and realized that the indesign too “step and repeat” would be my best friend in this instance. I created an interesting cool with a dash and some color
One of the biggest things that I’ve learned during these past few weeks, is that announcement websites are awful. Not just how the site is laid out, but every single invitation is ugly. Try and prove me wrong, I’d love to hear your opinions on this.
